Gov. Perry Appoints Two to Texas A&M Board of Regents

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced the appointment of John David White of Houston and reappointment of Erle Allen Nye of Dallas to the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents for terms to expire Feb. 1, 2009.

White is an attorney with the Jones Walker law firm. He is a fellow with the American, Texas and Houston Bar Foundations and a member of the American, Texas and Houston Bar Associations. White also is director of the Texas A&M Association of Former Students and the Texas Aggie Bar Association, and he serves on the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s International Committee. He received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law.

Nye, chairman and chief executive officer of TXU Corp., was appointed to the A&M Board of Regents in 1997 and has served as board chair since 2001. He is a member of the boards of directors of the Baylor Research Institute, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Citizens Council, Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Nye also is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association. He received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a law degree from Southern Methodist University.

These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
