Gov. Perry Appoints Jackson and Savoie To Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Wroe Jackson of Austin and Michael J. Savoie of Justin to the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation for terms expiring Jan. 31, 2011. The corporation is responsible for guaranteeing loans made under the federal guaranteed student loan program.
Jackson is a student at St. Mary’s University School of Law and secretary of the University’s Student Bar Association. He is a former deputy director of scheduling for Gov. Perry and previously served in the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Public Affairs. Jackson is also a founding board member of the Austin High School Alumni Association. He received a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University. He replaces Sade Johnson of Houston.
Savoie is director of the Center for Information Technology and Management at the University of Texas at Dallas. He is a former board member of the Upper Trinity Regional Water District and member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society for Quality and American Production and Inventory Control Society. Additionally, he is a member of Decision Sciences Institute and the International Association for the Management of Technology. Savoie received a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University, a master in business administration from Nicholls State University and a doctorate degree from the University of North Texas.
