Gov. Perry Appoints Stunja and Turner to San Jacinto River Authority
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Joseph L. Stunja of Kingwood and Joseph Turner of Willis to the San Jacinto River Authority Board of Directors for terms to expire Oct. 16, 2011. The board is responsible for the conservation, protection and development of the water resources of the San Jacinto River watershed.
Stunja is a former president and current advisor to Friendswood Development Company, a developer of master-planned communities in the Houston area, and co-owner of RE/MAX Associates Northeast. He is chairman of the Lake Houston Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone, and board member of the Humble Area Chamber of Commerce, Kingwood Medical Center and West Ranch Management District. Additionally, he is a board member of Third Coast Bank and member of the Texas and Houston associations of Realtors. Stunja received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and master of business administration from Pennsylvania State University. He replaces Linda Koenig of Houston.
Turner is vice president of Alliance Development. He is a past president of the Woodlands Chamber of Commerce and the Woodlands Lions Club. He is also a member of the Montgomery County Fair Advisory Board. Turner served in the U.S. Army and attended Auburn University.
