Gov. Perry Appoints Deshotels and Jones To Texas Coastal Coordination Council

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed George Deshotels of Matagorda and Robert Jones of Corpus Christi to the Texas Coastal Coordination Council for terms to expire May 31, 2010. The council oversees Texas Coastal Management Program grants and adopts policies to help manage natural resource use along the Texas coast.

Deshotels is commissioner of Matagorda County Precinct No. 2. He is a member of the Gulf International Canal Association and a board member of the Matagorda County Museum and the Bay City Lion’s Club. He serves on the Matagorda Volunteer Fire Department and formerly served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Deshotels received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University. He replaces Victor Pierson of Jamaica Beach.

Jones is pastor of the Messianic Fellowship Church and a host on the 1440 KEYS radio morning show. He is a member of the Texas Coastal Coordination Council, past member of the USO of South Texas board of directors and past vice chairman of the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority. Jones served in the U.S. Army and is a member of the American Legion Post 3837. He received a bachelor’s degree from Temple University. Jones is being reappointed.
