Gov. Perry Appoints Four to Angelina and Neches River Authority Board of Directors
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed four to the Angelina and Neches River Authority Board of Directors. The board sets policy, provides oversight and employs a general manager for the Angelina and Neches River Authority, which oversees water resources in 17 counties surrounding the Neches River Basin.
Alfred Chavira of Jacksonville is a self employed contractor. He is past president of the Jacksonville Jaycees, member of the Hope Inc. finance committee and assistant troop master for Boy Scout Troup 434. He is also a past board member of the Jacksonville Independent School District and member of the East Texas Council of Governments. Chavira is reappointed for a term to expire Sept. 5, 2013.
Julie Dowell of Bullard is a retired police officer. She is a past member of the Bullard Elementary School Site Based Decision Making Committee and past board member of Town North Y.M.C.A. Dowell attended the University of Colorado. She is reappointed for a term to expire Sept. 2, 2011.
Thomas H. Gann of Lufkin is president of Gann Medford Real Estate. He currently serves on the Texas Real Estate Advisory Committee at Texas A&M University. Gann received a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in business administration from Baylor University. He replaces Joe Deason of Lufkin for a term to expire Sept. 5, 2013.
David King of Nacogdoches is director of human resources for Foretravel, Inc. He is a member of the EMS Star of Texas Award Advisory Committee, Deep East Texas Career/Tech Partnership Advisory Council and Blood Center of East Texas Board of Directors. King received a bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. He replaces George S. Vorpahl of Lufkin for a term to expire Sept. 5, 2013.
