Governor Rick Perry Names Michael Morrissey to New Post of Director of Budget, Planning and Policy
AUSTIN - Gov. Rick Perry has announced that Michael G. Morrissey has joined his administration as Director of Budget, Planning and Policy.
"I am pleased to have Mike back on my staff," Perry said. "He brings a lot of depth, experience and knowledge to the budget and planning staffs."
Since January Morrissey has been the Director of Fiscal Policy for Lt. Gov. Bill Ratliff, serving as Ratliff's representative for fiscal affairs to the Governor's office and the House, Senate and Legislative Budget Board members.
Prior to that time, Morrissey served as Budget Director for Perry while he was the lieutenant governor. Morrissey also worked in the administration of former Lt. Gov. Bob Bullock, where he served as the Budget Director from 1995-1999.
As Director of Budget, Planning and Policy Morrissey will coordinate budget and policy divisions and direct long-term planning in the Office of the Governor.
He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's of business administration. He earned his law degree from the University of Arkansas and is licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.
