Athletes with Texas roots found gold in a big way during the recent Summer Olympic Games in London.

Among the highest-profile athletes competing in the Games, former Longhorn Kevin Durant helped lead the U.S. Basketball team to the Gold Medal, setting a record for most points scored by an American in a single Olympics (156). Joining him on the team was Texas native Deron Williams.

Tamika Catchings won her third Olympic Gold Medal with the U.S. women's basketball team.

Former Longhorn track star Sanya Richards-Ross won two golds, one in the 400 meters and the other as part of the 4x400 relay, which included fellow Texan Diamond Dixon. UT alum Bianca Knight won gold in the 4x100 relay.

In the pool, UT product Ricky Berens teamed with Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte in winning the 4x200 freestyle, and fellow Longhorn Brendan Hansen won gold in the 4x100 medley relay.

Congratulations to all Texans who brought medals home from London, and to all those who distinguished themselves by competing on the highest level in the world.
