Have a Very Merry Christmas

The most magical part of the restoration of the Governor's Mansion is seeing it decorated for Christmas again.

This season, the decorations have a particularly special meaning, intended to remind everyone to remember those serving in our Armed Forces who are far from home, as well as our veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country.

The library features decorations honoring the U.S. Army, the dining room is decorated to honor members of the U.S. Navy and Marines, and the conservatory pays homage to the U.S. Air Force. The Coast Guard is honored in the hallway.

At the very heart of the mansion, the bannister along the main staircase has been marked with stars, each bearing the name of a Medal of Honor recipient from the State of Texas.

Have a very Merry Christmas, and be sure to keep your thoughts with those who have dedicated their lives to keeping us safe.
