Governor Officially Launches New Web Site
AUSTIN- Gov. Rick Perry today announced the official launch of his new Web site. Activated on August 27th, the completely redesigned website, http://www.governor.state.tx.us, provides significant improvements over the previous version though better navigation, a broad range of multimedia and a much more user-friendly presentation of information.
“I have long been an advocate of government using technology to make it easier for Texans to learn what their state is doing,” Gov. Perry said. “This new version allows us to convey vital information directly to our citizens while tailoring the presentation to their individual needs. I hope everyone will bookmark this site and use it to stay informed on key issues affecting our state.”
The new website boasts a growing network of video, audio, photo, press release and speech resources to highlight current news and priorities, as well as links to each division in the Governor’s Office and an email update subscription service. Features such as the Hurricane Center provide critical and up-to-date news on current conditions in the state, serving as an essential resource for resdients as major events unfold.
The new site is the result of months of work by the Governor’s Web team, communications staff and policy experts to provide information on current issues and a detailed historical perspective on Gov. Perry’s eight years in office.
“Whether you’re a Texas non-profit that needs information on applying for a grant, a reporter who wants to read a speech from 2004 or a business-owner from outside the state looking to relocate jobs to Texas, this site has what you’re looking for,”. Perry said. “I encourage everyone to visit the new site and take advantage of its new features and advanced capabilities.”
