Update on State Assistance with Fort Hood Shootings

AUSTIN – At the request of the Fort Hood Commanding General, the Texas Rangers will assist the Military CID and FBI with the investigation into the Fort Hood shooting incident today.

“The Texas Rangers are an elite investigative force within the Texas Department of Public Safety and will provide assistance to federal authorities in the investigation of the tragic events that unfolded at Fort Hood.”

Gov. Perry directed the Texas Rangers to Fort Hood this afternoon along with Department of Public Safety troopers and helicopters, to assist in securing the perimeter of the base.
