Gov. Perry Congratulates Boy Scouts of America on 100 Years of Scouting

Monday, February 08, 2010  •  Press Release

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today congratulated the Boy Scouts of America on 100 years of scouting:

"Over the last 100 years the Boy Scouts of America have shaped the values of generations of young men. Today as we celebrate this century-strong organization, we also recognize that the spirit of scouting – the strength of fellowship, the love for the outdoors, and the sense of self-reliance, dedication and perseverance – is alive and well across this great state and country. Scouting changed my life and continues to change the lives of young men by building confidence and creating leaders, and it should continue, free of interference, to change lives well into the future.”

On Saturday Gov. Perry, who is an Eagle Scout, spoke to more than 200 Scouts and family members at the Boy Scouts of America Annual Report to State at the Texas State Capitol.
