Statement by Gov. Rick Perry on Senate Passage of Voter ID Legislation

Gov. Rick Perry today issued the following statement on the Senate passage of SB 14, related to voter identification requirements:
                                                                          
“I applaud the Texas Senate for passing the voter ID legislation, which represents a significant step toward preserving the integrity of the ballot box in Texas. I am pleased that state lawmakers are quickly addressing this issue, which is important to Texans and critical to ensuring our state has proper protections against voter fraud, and I fully expect the House will soon follow suit and pass this important measure.”
