Statement by Gov. Rick Perry on Senate Passage of Eminent Domain Legislation

Gov. Rick Perry today issued the following statement on the Senate passage of SB 18, related to eminent domain issues:

"I commend the Texas Senate for passing SB 18 as we continue the effort to strengthen private property rights in our state. Property ownership remains an essential freedom for Texans, and we must strengthen our eminent domain laws to further protect property owners. I urge the House to pass this legislation quickly, so Texans can begin to see the benefits of this fair and necessary measure."
