Gov. Perry Names Bech K. Bruun Director of Appointments
Gov. Rick Perry has named Bech K. Bruun director of appointments effective September 10. He will replace Teresa Spears, who is retiring.
"I'm very proud to welcome Bech back to my office as director of appointments. His past experience in the appointments division combined with his legal and legislative expertise gives him a first-hand understanding of the important role and responsibility appointees hold to make Texas a better place," said Gov. Perry. "Teresa Spears and I have worked together for more 20 years, and she has been one of my most valued and trusted advisors. Anita and I will be forever grateful for her service and friendship."
Bruun most recently served as government and customer relations manager for the Brazos River Authority. Prior to that, he was chief of staff to State Rep. Todd Hunter, and general counsel to the House Committee on Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence. He previously served as executive director of Texas Victory 2008, a project of the Republican Party of Texas. Prior to that, he worked for Gov. Perry as an appointments manager. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
Bruun received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. He and his wife, Glenna, and their daughter, Cilla Kay, live in Austin.
