Governor and First Lady Host Thanksgiving Military Appreciation Lunch at Governor’s Mansion
Gov. Rick Perry and First Lady Anita Perry hosted a Thanksgiving lunch at the Governor's Mansion for veterans and active duty military in honor of their service and sacrifice. This lunch is the first holiday event to occur at the Governor's Mansion since it reopened earlier this year.
"We have so much to be thankful for as Americans and Texans, and it wouldn't be possible without the sacrifice and dedication of our armed forces who continue to protect freedom," Gov. Rick Perry said. "The First Lady and I would like to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving holiday, and encourage all Texans to keep our military men and women in their thoughts and prayers this year."
"The governor and I are honored to begin the holiday season in the company of members of our military. We think of and pray for the men and women serving in the military each and every day and to share a lunch with them and be able to personally express our appreciation for all they do means a great deal to us," First Lady Anita Perry said. "We owe a debt of gratitude to all veterans and active military for their selflessness and courage."
The Texas Veterans Commission, Texas Military Forces, F7 Group, Hope for the Warriors, Lone Star Veterans and Warriors Weekend assisted with today's lunch.
In honor of our nation's armed forces, the Governor's Mansion will feature military themed decorations this Christmas season.
