Wednesday, December 19, 2012  •  Austin, Texas  •  Press Release

Gov. Rick Perry announced TEKsystems Global Services is creating a new IT center in Irving, along with 500 jobs and $4.8 million in capital investment. The state is providing $1.1 million through the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) to close the deal on this new facility and this job creation.

"Here in Texas, we've found the right combination of low taxes, reasonable regulations, skilled workforce and competitive incentives that have helped our state create jobs, attract businesses and provide opportunities for our citizens," Gov. Perry said. "Companies like TEKsystems know that when they choose Texas, they get access to a world-class workforce and an economic environment that's second to none."

TEKsystems Global Services provides services in software development and maintenance, quality assurance and testing, ETL and report conversion and help desk outsourcing to its clients, which include 82% of Fortune 500 companies. This new facility will focus on the development and maintenance of mission critical software applications to complement the company's existing core services in key vertical markets.

"We look forward to working with the city of Irving and the state of Texas to accomplish our mutual goals and grow the economy. Adding this new center in Irving strengthens our existing network of delivery centers allowing us to better serve our clients and provide a true global delivery model. It simply gives us more ways to provide excellent service and flexibility to our clients by tapping into the right skills quickly, efficiently and effectively," TEKsystems Global Services Vice President Randy Verdino said. "Additionally, this delivery center in Irving allows us to provide organizations with solutions and available technical talent to achieve results that are often not possible in other local markets. We intend to leverage Irving's tremendous wealth of talent at every level by working with local colleges for emerging skills and also hiring experienced people seeking new challenges. Expanding our already significant presence in the United States gives us great pride and the city of Irving and state of Texas have partnered with us to for what will be a win for the people, our employees, our economy and our clients."

"This underscores Irving's significance on the global stage. Our incentive packages, skilled workforce, low taxes, and outstanding educational institutions make us one of the most attractive business centers in the world," Irving City Manager Tommy Gonzalez said. "We welcome TEKsystems Global Services and are confident its employees will find our location, the many options of schools, and great neighborhoods outstanding in every way."

"TEKSystems Global Services' new center is additional proof of the success of the Texas way, which brings together smart investment, low taxes and supportive governments and a strong workforce," State Rep. Jim Jackson said. "We are blessed to live and work in Texas."

The Legislature created the TEF in 2003 and has re-appropriated funding in every legislative session since then to help ensure the growth of Texas businesses and create more jobs throughout the state. TEF projects must be approved by the governor, lieutenant governor and speaker of the House. The fund has since become one of the state's most competitive tools to recruit and bolster business. To date, the TEF has invested more than $485 million and closed the deal on projects generating more than 65,701 new jobs and more than $17.3 billion in capital investment in the state.
