Evacuation Task Force to Meet Wednesday, Nov. 30, in Dallas-Ft. Worth

AUSTIN – The Task Force on Evacuation Transportation and Logistics will meet Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area to take testimony on how to improve evacuations during hurricanes and other disasters. This will be the fourth meeting of the Task Force created in September by Gov. Rick Perry, Houston Mayor Bill White and Harris County Judge Robert Eckels.

Members of the Task Force are Jack Little of Houston, former president and CEO of Shell Oil Co., Task Force chairman; Gordon Bethune of Houston, former chairman and CEO of Continental Airlines; Theron Bowman, Ph.D., chief of police for City of Arlington; Bill King, former mayor of Kemah; Bill Klesse of San Antonio, executive vice president and COO of Valero Energy; Dr. Carol Lewis of Houston, associate professor in transportation studies and director of the Center for Transportation Training and Research at Texas Southern University; Erle Nye of Dallas, former chairman and CEO of TXU Corp., member of the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents; Jerry Patterson of Austin, Texas Land Commissioner; David Saperstein of Houston, CEO of Five S Capital, former chairman and CEO of Metro Networks Inc., volunteer chairman of the Office of Mobility for the City of Houston; Karen Sexton of Galveston, vice president and CEO for Hospitals and Clinics at UTMB; and Mike Trevino of Houston, general manager of public and governmental affairs for Marathon Oil; Bob Walker of Brazoria County, vice president and site director of Texas Operations for Dow Chemical; Carlos Cascos of Cameron County, a member of the Texas Public Safety Commission; and Trey Henderson of Lufkin, president of Angelina Hardwood Sales Co.

The Task Force will begin each meeting with invited testimony from regional officials, followed by an opportunity for public comment. Individuals may also submit written testimony.
