Gov. Perry Announces April 15 Special Election For State House District 43

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today set Tuesday, April 15, as the special election date to fill the vacancy for State House District 43. The seat was left vacant with the death of Rep. Irma Rangel last week.

Candidates for this special election must file applications with the Secretary of State no later than Monday, March 31. The early voting period for this special election runs from Monday, April 7, through Friday, April 11.

House District 43 consists of Brooks, Jim Hogg, Kenedy, Kleberg and Willacy counties, as well as part of Cameron County.

The representative elected in this special election will serve out the remainder of Rangel’s term.
