Better Jobs Act

It is my honor to join Senator Van de Putte and members of the San Antonio community to publicly sign Senate Bill 607, the Better Jobs Act.

This bill allows 1,200 incorporated cities across Texas to create a non-profit municipal development corporation that would help develop and implement job training, early childhood education, literacy promotion, scholarship funding and after school programs.

The Better Jobs Act gives local people the right to decide whether local tax dollars can be used to plant the seeds of long-term economic opportunity in their communities.  

The future of this state is dependent on a generation of Texans being educated and prepared for the jobs of tomorrow.

I want to commend Senator Van de Putte for offering this legislation, and allow her to share a few thoughts.
