Capital City A&M Club – Coaches Night

Thank you, Rick (Smitherman).   Howdy!  It’s great to be here with fellow members of the maroon resistance movement behind the Orange Curtain.

Judging by this turnout, I’d say we are on the verge of a popular uprising.

And it’s especially good to be here with the generals who are going to lead our troops to victory this fall…
…Coach Guerrieri and Coach Fran.

There are few places I’d rather be tonight than with some good-hearted Aggies raising money for a great cause.

If you haven’t placed your bid yet on one of tonight’s auction items…
…let me give you a couple of reasons why you need to bid high and bid often.

First, you can win some great A&M paraphernalia…
…and showing your Aggie pride in Central Texas not only makes you feel good…
…it has the added benefit of making t’sips feel bad about the whipping they’re going to get later this year.

And second, every dollar we raise helps another young Texan achieve two important goals that every Aggie aspires to:…
…getting out of Austin, and getting to College Station.

Over the past 20 years, the Capital City A&M Club has raised more than $600,000 dollars to help deserving Central Texas students attend the greatest university in the world.

Tonight let’s see just how much we can add to that.

One of the items we are about to auction off is priceless in value, and rich in symbolism for Texas’ first Aggie governor:…
…an A&M flag that proudly flew over the Texas capitol.

The good news for all of you prospective bidders is that Anita took the checkbook from me before I came.

Whoever wins this flag will not only take home a unique piece of A&M memorabilia…
…but a stronger sense of the Aggie spirit because what you bid will help change the lives of the young Aggies of tomorrow.

So let’s keep the auctioneer busy.

Thank you all for being here and for your support of Texas A&M…
…and let me turn the podium back over to begin the live auction.
