    Industry Cluster Efforts

    Governor Rick Perry believes job creation and economic development are the only sure path to future prosperity and the resources needed to fund essential priorities like education and health care. At his urging, the 78th Texas Legislature passed SB 275 which called for the development of strategies to enable key industry clusters to compete and win in the global marketplace. By directing its development resources into these key clusters, Texas can bring about maximum benefit in the six key areas most likely to generate jobs and create a ripple effect of economic development.

  • Investing For Growth

    Investing For Growth

    Gov. Perry firmly believes that government doesn’t create jobs: entrepreneurs in the private sector do. However, government has a key role to play in cultivating a favorable climate for job creation. As states and nations compete more aggressively for the attentions of employers, Gov. Perry has worked to enhance the state’s already strong attraction. Efforts in this area have been focused on improving the state’s workforce through investments in education and providing incentives to draw employers to Texas. The results are well documented, as Texas continues to lead the nation in job creation and economic growth.

    Tax & Regulatory Reform

    As part of his effort to unleash the entrepreneurial power of Texans, Gov. Perry has worked to cut away the miles of red tape that governments traditionally use to strangle innovation, stifle investment and squash job creation. By reducing taxes to free up investment capitol, pressing for sensible regulations and reforming a legal system that was driving away businesses and discouraging doctors, Gov. Perry has moved Texas into a significant period of economic expansion. As a result, Texas is considered the best place in the country to start, run or expand a business, a distinction that has created millions of jobs for Texans.

    Trade Initiatives

    Gov. Perry wants the world to know that Texas is the best place in the country to live, work and raise a family and has consistently shared that message with people beyond the border of our state. In a concerted effort to draw visitors, investors and employers, Gov. Perry has emphasized the state’s essential resources, both economic and cultural, through tourism advertising, support of the state’s film & music industry, and pursuing stronger trade relationships with foreign countries.
