    Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Ivy Pate of Beaumont and Caleb Spurlock of Woodville to the Lower Neches Valley Authority Board of Directors. The board provides water, manages floods and protects the quality of water for the Lower Neches Valley.

    Gov. Perry Appoints Six to Protect Our Kids Commission
    Gov. Rick Perry has appointed six members to the Protect Our Kids Commission for terms to expire at the pleasure of the governor, and has also named Robin Sage of Longview as presiding officer. Pursuant to Senate Bill 66 of the 83rd Regular Legislative Session, the commission studies and provides recommendations to the Legislature regarding best practices and evidence-based strategies to address and reduce child abuse and neglect fatalities.

The board oversees the licensing of funeral directors and embalmers, and ensures their compliance with state statutes and regulations regarding funeral services, cemeteries and crematories.

The council advises the Crime Victims' Institute regarding the compilation and study of information on the impact of crime to victims, society, and relatives and guardians, and assists the institute to develop policies to prevent the victimization of society by crime.
