    Gov. Rick Perry has appointed David Cabrales of Dallas to the Texas Economic Development Corporation for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor. The corporation supports programs and activities of the Governor's Division of Economic Development and Tourism, in addition to TexasOne, which markets Texas competitively and dynamically to businesses outside the state's borders.

    Gov. Perry Appoints Three to Texas Council on Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorders
    Gov. Rick Perry has appointed three members to the Texas Council on Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorders for terms to expire Feb. 1, 2016. The council makes recommendations to the Legislature and state agencies to ensure the needs of people with autism and other pervasive developmental disorders and their families are addressed, and that all available resources are coordinated to meet those needs.

    Gov. Perry Appoints Brigadier General Betty as Commander of Texas State Guard
    Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Brigadier General Gerald "Jake" Betty as Commander of the Texas State Guard effective Sept. 1, 2014 for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor. The commander of the Texas State Guard is responsible for the organization, training and administration of the Texas State Guard, and reports to the Texas Adjutant General.

    Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Leon Leal of Grapevine to the State Board for Educator Certification for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2017. The board develops certification, continuing education requirements and standards of conduct for public school teachers.

    Gov. Perry Appoints Brannan as Commissioner of Workers’ Compensation
    Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Ryan Brannan of Austin as commissioner of Workers' Compensation at the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI), effective Aug. 1, 2014, for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015. TDI's Division of Workers' Compensation regulates the workers' compensation system in Texas, ensuring injured workers receive the necessary benefits to quickly return to work, and that workers' compensation costs are kept at a reasonable level for Texas employers. Brannan replaces Rod Bordelon, who is leaving the post after nearly six years at the helm.

    Gov. Rick Perry has appointed six members to the Protect Our Kids Commission for terms to expire at the pleasure of the governor, and has also named Robin Sage of Longview as presiding officer. Pursuant to Senate Bill 66 of the 83rd Regular Legislative Session, the commission studies and provides recommendations to the Legislature regarding best practices and evidence-based strategies to address and reduce child abuse and neglect fatalities.

The board oversees the licensing of funeral directors and embalmers, and ensures their compliance with state statutes and regulations regarding funeral services, cemeteries and crematories.

The council advises the Crime Victims' Institute regarding the compilation and study of information on the impact of crime to victims, society, and relatives and guardians, and assists the institute to develop policies to prevent the victimization of society by crime.

Regional mobility authorities allow local communities to develop regional transportation priorities, and accelerate development and financing for critical transportation projects.
